It’s the Great American Weekend on historic River Street July 3^rd and 4^th!  A wide variety of regional arts and crafts exhibitors, food, drinks, entertainment, contests, fireworks and more make it the best place in the southeast to spend your Independence Day weekend! Stop by the Verizon display across from Exchange Tavern Saturday and Sunday to pick up your scavenger hunt clues to enter to win a Droid Eris!  The fun hunt covers Savannah’s Historic District using clues and the Tourist Assistant Portal kiosks! Weekend family fun also includes the inaugural Ruth’s Chris Slider Eating Contest Saturday at 3:30 and the Savannah Candy Kitchen Ice Cream Eating Contest Sunday at 5pm!  On July 4^th catch the funk-tastic, old school, upbeat rhythms of Equinox Jazz at 8pm leading into the City of Savannah, Chatham County and River Street community fireworks spectacular lighting up the night sky!  Remember to bring your radio tuned toKIX96.5, I-95, MIX 102.1, E93, Magic 103.9, The Ticket and WBMQ  for the fireworks music simulcast and why not head down early to visit the shops, restaurants and pubs before the show!  Show your patriotism by saving three lives with only one pint of blood by donating to the Blood Alliance in Morrell Park from 1pm to 4pm on the 4^th!  The Great American Weekend is presented by Verizon Wireless and Southern Eagle Distributing event is hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association and is also sponsored by Wet Willie’s, Coca-cola, Wachovia, Ruth’s Chris, Repicci’s Italian Ice and Cumulus Broadcasting-Savannah!  Be sure to visit us on the web at  riverstreetsavannah.com .  When’s the last time you played on River Street?
